Disney's Vero Beach Resort is an oceanfront resort and the first Disney resort located outside the boundaries of the Company's theme parks . This resort is built in the architectural style of the grand hotels found in the early 1900s along the Northeastern seaboard . It is situated on a barrier island near the charming seaside town of Vero Beach, Florida, and just a two-hour car drive southeast from the Walt Disney World Resort . Located in the heart of Indian River County, the oceanfront resort blends the simplicity of an old Florida beach vacation with first class amenities . This location consists of 26 miles of unspoiled beaches with their tropical blue-green waters and is one of the most dense sea turtle nesting areas in the western hemisphere, as well as a home to a variety of rare and endangered animal species . Activities include a nine-hole miniature golf course, croquet lawn, themed pool with two-story spiral slide, tennis and basketball courts, innovative kid's camp, children's play area, watercraft rentals, bike rentals, snorkeling, fitness center with state-of-the-art equipment and more . Disney Discovery Club is a 3 hour supervised program that gives kids ages 4-12 an opportunity to discover, create, and explore . Day and evening programs are offered for a nominal fee, while the evening programs include dinner . Also, there are sports activities which include non-traditional volleyball, soccer, games, races, movies and crafts . .
