YMCA Camp Peggy Lake, a residential camp for kids ages 8-16 is seeking summer staff to act as counselors and instruct various outdoor activities in the great Alaskan Wilderness.
YMCA Camp Peggy Lake is a small, non-profit, non-denominational residential camp for boys and girls ages 8-16 located 100 miles north of Anchorage, Alaska. We offer a traditional camp program with activities including swimming, canoeing, archery, riflery, arts and crafts, and nature activities. All programs are designed to foster growth in spirit, mind and body.
Camp Counselors live with campers in their cabins, lead them in daily routines and group activities, and instruct at least one of our main activity areas. Counselors serve as postitive role models and friends to the young people that we serve.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old and eligible to work in the U.S. They must be able to instruct at least one of our main activities, have a love of children and the outdoors. At least one year of working with children, preferably in a camp setting is preferred. CPR/1st Aid are required. Counselors must be flexible, patient, humorous, and creative, and have an appreciation for diversity.
