Lantern Lane Farm located in Leesburg - Northern Va.- Washington DC area - is an Equestrian Training Center providing: Indoor Area - Riding Lessons - Riding Vacations - Horse Training & Board for Dressage & Event Horses.
For riders, we specialize in seat development giving riders the skills to balance with a moving horse in walk, trot and canter. At the same time we teach riders how to communicate with the horse using their seat, hands and legs in order for the horse and rider to be able to understand one another. When these skills are accomplished by the rider, the rider gains confidence in his or her abilities to commandeer such a large animal and do it with grace, poise, and kindness. We are located just outside the town of Leesburg, and we are convenient to Ashburn, Aldie, Fairfax County, Hamilton, Herndon, Middleburg, Lovettesville, Luckets, Purcellville, Reston, Round-Hill, Waterford, and Prince William, County.
For Horses, we provide a comfortable environment for them to live, giving them good grains and all the water and hay they need to maintain their proper weight for their discipline. Each horse gets examined before turning out or coming back into the barn. Horses in training are taught how to behave in a civilized way so that they are easy to handle by the barn staff and their owners. The exercises we use are taught to the owners of the horses so that they too feel that they have control and respect of their equine partners. We work to make the horses soft in the bridle, supple through their ribs and topline and capable of receiving and executing movements from the lightest of aids. These horses are also taught how to do their work while riding out cross country which we refer to as Dressage Cross Country. Weather the owner is preparing for the show ring or just wants a more pleasant horse to ride, our training program can make dreams come true.
Our horseback riding vacation program is about helping riders enjoy our beautiful Virginia countryside while improving their riding skills, either on their own horses or ours. We have lovely bed and breakfast lodging in Leesburg, Purcellville, Middleburg and Aldie, as well as a two fabulous resort hotels, Landsdown in Leesburg/Ashburn and the new Salamander Inn in Middleburg.
