Shangrila Guest Ranch, located in South Boston, Virginia, only one hour North of Raleigh, North Carolina, offers comfortable lodgings, quality horses and beautiful trails. The horseback riding is our main activity with the length of the ride catered to our guests comfort. Horses available to accommodate the first time rider as well as those more experienced. The horseback riding is included in our all inclusive packages. Guests are given riding instruction before heading out on the trail and there is also a riding arena for those wishing to have a lesson.

Horseback riding is available each day and is included in the vacation package prices.

Age range, type of group
Minimum age for trail riding is 10 years. Exceptions may be made based upon childs riding experience and ability.

Sleeping and meals
All lodgings are private and have a view of pastures and horses!
The Old Home Place has 3 bedrooms and can accommodate up to six people. Originally built in 1801 and gives a warm welcome to anyone who comes through the door.
The log cabin is ideal for a couple but can accommodate up to four. It has a queen bed, full bath, open living area and two twin beds in the loft. The cabin is surrounded by trees and the covered front porch faces a small pasture.
The upper level of the Packhouse has a private effiiciency with a queen bed, bath and small kitchen area. The porch overlooks the pond and pastures. The Packhouse also provides another efficiency on the upper level with a queen bed, bath and small kitchen area. The porch has a view of the riding arena and pasture. In addition, a semi-private room with two twin beds is also located on the backside lower level of the Packhouse.
Meals are served family style after which guests may retire by the campfire to stargaze and roast s'mores.

Restrictions
Lodgings are no smoking. Smoking is permitted outside and in designated areas. Sorry, no pets allowed.

There are no additional charges or fees. Customary trail guide gratuity is at the discretion of our guests.
35% deposit required. A deposit is fully refundable with 30 days advance notice, after which time it will be applied to your future stay with us. Cancellations 10 days or less results in forfeiture of deposit.
