Passenger ferry: The ferry leaves from Townsville 12 to 19 times a day . This trip costs $29 return . When you get to the island, jump on the Magnetic Island bus and tell the driver you want express to Base Backpackers - we are only 2 minutes away .
Car ferry: The car ferry is only a 2 minute drive from Townsville town centre . When you arrive at Nelly Bay Harbour turn left, past the supermarket . When you are driving along the road next to the beach, you will see the resort at the end of the stretch . You will recognise it as our nearest neighbour is 1 . 2km away .
