O Castro Youth Hostel has inaugurated in september 2002, as part of a deal with the Universidad de Vigo. The hostel accommodates students of both genres and includes 225 rooms laid out as single rooms (21) and single rooms with shared kitchen facilities (204). There are also rooms available that have been designed for handicapped persons
All of the rooms include a fitted kitchen, complete bathroom, heating, telephone and Internet connection.
The bedrooms are equipped with a bed measuring 200x90 cm, armoire, writing desk, chairs, desk lamp, bookcase unit and mirror. The hostel provides the mattress with a case, blanket, pillow and bedspread.
The kitchen is fitted with electrical stove plates, smoke extractor, microwave and refrigerator. Kitchen utensils consist of plates, glasses, cutlery, pots and pans, calender, oil and vinegar bottles, coffee pot, cooking utensils, a water jug... in addition to cleaning appliances: garbage container, broom and shovel and a small frame for drying clothes.
This Hostel and Hall of Residence is located within the Campus of Marcosende, along with the following faculties: Humanities, Sciences, Education Sciences, Higher Technical School of Industrial and Mining Engineers, Telecommunications Engineering and University School of Labour Relations.
The University of Vigo has reached an agreement with the metropolitan transportation, VITRASA, company to provide transportation to students between the city of Vigo and the Campus, and vice-versa.
