Action around the Fethiye area include water-sports, aerial activities, land sports, visiting archaeological & spectacular sites and great shopping. Around the seaside there is paragliding, microlites, wind-surfing, sailing, swimming, water-skiing and scuba diving. Inland there is walking, mountain biking, quad biking and horse riding.
TOURS - There are many operators offering boat trips around the 12 islands in Fethiye Bay and trips to Saklikent Gorge for water rafting and mud baths. Inland is Pamukkale with hot springs and spectacular limestone scenery. Throughout the year you can paraglide off Babadag Mountain and land on Olu Deniz beach. You can visit numerous Roman and Lycian archaeological sites and walking the Lycian Way will appeal to many people.
FETHIYE TOWN - Fethiye is 17km from the villa and can reached by the Dolmus minibuses or an easy 25 minute drive to the centre of a bustling port with lots to offer and includes modern supermarkets. In the harbour area you can walk past the boats or relax in the many bars and tea-rooms, in the old city there are shops offering quality leather goods, carpets and designer clothes. There are good restaurants of all types and there is an excellent food market near the harbour with meat, fish and fruit at very low prices. Fethiye is steeped in history and near the harbour you can see Lycian tombs cut out of the mountainside above the Roman amphitheatre.
BEACH AREAS - Calis Beach is 20 minutes from the villa and has a 5km shingle beach with many bars and restaurants - you can also go to Fethiye from here by water taxis. Olu Deniz, Hisaronu and the Greek 'ghost town' of Kaya Koy are all a short distance from Fethiye. Olu Deniz is famous for its blue lagoon and sandy beaches and is the main centre for paragliding, you can see them gliding off the mountain and landing on the beach. Hisaronu has a lively selection of night clubs, restaurants and tourist shops and Kaya Koy is worth visiting to see a preserved town left after the 'Troubles'. Patara Beach is one hour away with an unspoilt 20km sandy beach and Lycian tombs and Roman ruins.
