Lapa, famous for its Samba clubs and home to Rio's nightlife and the downtown business district are within a 10 minute drive, either by bus, taxi or tram ride away and the famous sights of Christ the Redeemer and Sugar Loaf Mountain and the beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema are just 15 minutes away. Transport stops right outside the house to take you to all the places you need to go (bus, tram or kombi).

Xmas & New Year / Carnival: Special Conditions Apply -----------------------------------------------------------------------------. New Year: Casa 579 requires guests to stay 2 nights between 29th December and 2nd January. Carnival: Casa 579 requires guests to stay 6 nights checking in on 8 February. Dates can be flexible but please note, New Year and Carnival minimum night stays must be booked at the special package rates for the booking to be valid. Not respecting the conditions above will result in a booking cancellation. We also require 50% advance payment. For Special Package cancellations more than 30 days before check-in date, the deposit is refundable, less any payments made to Hostelbookers. Cancellations 30 days or less than check-in date, no refunds will be given. Getting to Casa 579: Approx Taxi duration / costs from: Rio International Airport: R$70-90 / 30 mins Rodoviaria (bus station): R$35-50 / 20 mins
We have an airport pick-up service for R$75 from the International Airport, R$60 from the Domestic Airport and R$45 from the bus station.
Bus stops : 1) No 006 Silvestre / Castelo - to / from Lapa and Rio Centro . Get on/off at the corner of Rua Almirante Alexandrino and Rua Dr. Julio Otoni 2) Kombi/Van Silvestre / Largo do Machado - to / from House / Largo do Marchado (metro). Stops outside the house 3) Bus from Rodoviaria: Take the 133 to Largo do Machado and you can either get off at the last stop (Largo do Machado)and then take option 2 above. Or ask the bus to drop you at the corner of Rua Dr Julio Otoni (just after the tunnel) and then walk up our street (approx 15 min walk).
