Journey back in time--stay at this romantic 1892 Victorian bed and breakfast. One guest remarked "This inn has more charm than a story written for entertainment."
Follow the route of the Silver Kings--come to historic Leadville at 10,200 feet where fortunes were made (and lost) in the search for gold and silver. Magestic mountains, several over 14,000 feet, surround the town, nearby lakes and forests offering many outdoor activities. Mountain climbing, hiking, fishing, and bicycling are just a few of the summer choices available, while the plentiful fresh powder invites downhill and cross country skiing, snow boarding, snow shoeing, and winter hikes. Several museums, antique shops, restaurants, and a scenic train ride are all within easy walking distance.
A stay at this beautiful bed and breakfast is like taking a journey back in time, with modern conveniences. The Inn was restored in 1989, retaining the original parquet floors, woodwork and crown moldings. Many of the antiques and collections are family pieces that Gretchen and Maureen enjoy sharing with the quests. The summer gardens are a showcase of flowers with benches throughout--sit and enjoy the many species of song birds at the feeders. In the winter, snow turns the garden into winter wonderlands.
Each of the nine bedrooms is decorated with period antiques, warm, fluffy comforters, pillows in rich colors--each with a different flair. Two rooms have a more western or sporting theme. Eight rooms have private bath and shower--one with a copper bath tub and another with a jetted tub-for-two.
TV, telephone, magazines, games, and puzzles are available for the guests in the common areas. TVs are available in some rooms. Coffee and tea service is available in all rooms. A full breakfast is included in the room rate along with afternoon tea and snacks. The garden hot tub provides the perfect end to the day.
Smoking is not permitted in any of the buildings. We are only able to accommadate children over 10 years of age. Pets are not permitted, but feel free to lavish attention on Thelma. She is only a small terrior, but has a huge heart.
