Horse&Carriage is nestled on our sesquicentennial farm and is located in a quiet rural community. There's plenty of good restaurants nearby, excellent antiquing, fishing, golfing, biking, walking, community theatre, shopping and quaint country churches to attend. We are 10 miles to Hillsdale College, 20 miles to Michigan Speedway, 30 miles to Jackson Space Center, 35 miles to Battle Creek Cereal City Museum and Water Slide, and 60 miles to Michigan State University's Butterfly House and 4-H Children's Garden. We are the best of two worlds: quiet country and city attractions. Driving from Detroit Metro Airport it is two hours and the drive through the Irish Hills is beautiful. We live in a friendly part of Michigan's Water Wonderland.
Accommodations
Horse&Carriage was once a one-room schoolhouse and was built in 1898. We offer our guests a warm fireside hospitality, with a hearty farm breakfast served inside or on our old-fashioned screened porch. Spring, summer and fall there are flowers in abundance. All around our house are the beautiful grazing fields of Brownson Farms. Once we were a dairy farm. Now it's a new generation and our family and neighboring farmers work the fields together. Our home and life style is simple and friendly. We welcome everyone to come to Horse&Carriage B&B and enjoy our country home.
Rooms/Suites
Three guest rooms are upstairs, one is down. There's the Starry Night Room with a king bed, a nature theme for decor and windows to view the stars when lights go out. The Americana Room has a queen bed, cozy bedcovers and a red white and blue theme. Next to the American Room is our Rainbow Room, specially set up for children, with twin beds and a surprise playroom filled with costumes and toys for children of all ages. Downstairs king I See The Moon Room has a private bath, TV and a beautiful view of the moon. Guests use a private bath or shared bath upstairs. Most guests come to breakfast telling of the wonderfully restful night they've had. We maintain clean comfortable accomodations for everyone. There is no TV for guests upstairs. If you are looking for a quiet private country home for you and your family, this is your place. Peace!
Amenities
Breakfast is served at Horse&Carriage anytime in the morning. There's always fruit juice, fresh fruit, homemade muffins or roles and fresh farm eggs served in a varity of delicious ways. Having desert after breakfast is the farm way. We've continued the tradition at our guest's breakfast table, so don't be surprised if there's apple pie and cheese on your table in the morning! Special breakfast served in your room is also available. Joy!
Services Offered
Clean linens and towels are provided daily for our guests. All guest rooms have a telephone, and a spot for your laptop if this is the need.
Other Information
Carriage rides and sleigh rides are available upon request for a fee of $30.00. We also do horse and carriage wedding rides here at the B&B and in our local area.
Map & Directions
Write or call for additional directions if you need them. Going east out of Jonesville on US 12 travel 4 miles to the blinker light. Turn right, onto Sterling Road and travel east, 2 miles to Brown Road. Turn right, going south onto Brown Road and travel south on Brown Road 1 mile. We are located at the corner of Brown Road and Houseknecht Road. A Horse&Carriage sign greets our guests.
