Welcome ! Thank you so much for taking the time to check us out ! We are grateful for each and every contact that we make. Little Tree is a very special service. We put an incredible amount of time and energy into each and every client.......... and each and every trip. You wont find any guides in Maine who are more proud of what they provide, or work any harder to make it happen. Our mission is simple and true......... we teach beginners how to backpack. We show people how to safely and enjoyably travel through the wilderness on foot......... it is a learning and growing experience to say the least. Support to you from beginning to end is what folks love about us the most. We start by helping you decide which hike is best for your needs. Then we supply you with a food and clothes booklet to have you prepared with each item before you ever reach the trail. And the best part is we supply all of the equipment you will need. Each person is independent with their own gear so that they have the maximum chance for learning the outdoor skills that we teach all along the trail. Backpacking knows no age barriers, we appeal to all age groups and a large percentage we take out is between the age 45 to 65. The secret is to do low miles and take lots of breaks. Our goal is that if someone can do one trip with us , that they can go out on their own for the next trip. We love what we offer and we love to share what we have learned through true experience.
Most of our hikes take place inside an area known as the "100 Mile Wilderness" along the famous Appalachian Trail. This is true wilderness with hardly any distractions from man ! So if you would ........please take the time to check out our scheduled hikes ! Thanking You For This Opportunity ! Spencer & Sarah Knoch
We start each day rising from a comfortable slumber at a reasonable time. We take the time to enjoy our breakfast and then a bit of light stretching. Once we are on the trail we take the time to "see what we see" and "hear what we hear". The pace is extremely moderate and we spend alot of time with breaks at streams and veiws, which is the reason we are out there. We have plenty of time in camp each evening to spend with other hikers that we might meet up with and to enjoy each others company. And of course we teach the needed wilderness skills all along the trail.
Our equipment is simply the best money can buy. True backpacking is tent camping. We use self inflating sleeping pads, warm fluffy sleeping bags and big roomy tents. Your food is part of your learning journey. We provide you with a "Food and Clothes Booklet" that we have written so that you are prepared when you reach the trail.
We hope that you can allow us the chance to provide a wilderness experience for you that you will always remember. We really do offer something that is so special that, as the saying goes " you have to experience it to understand". We have lots of past references that will proudly tell you about us and what we provide ! Hoping we can help in some way.
