True European Bed & Breakfast in a quaint, Victorian setting. Faithfully restored, filled with antiques, we are a quiet getaway from the hectic of everyday. Relax on the porch, sleep under feather comforters, and wake to a luxurious German breakfast.
Apalachicola is a turn of the century fishing village that has preserved its charm and character. Famous for oysters and other seafood, the waterfront is a hub of activity. The historic district is rich with old Victorian houses, many of which have undergone recent renovation. Antique shopping, boutiques, an old fashioned soda fountain mark our main street. A short drive takes you to pristine beaches.
Our house was built in 1905, and underwent complete renovation in 1996. Inside is decorated everywhere with period antiques and provides places to relax. The breakfast room marks the center of the area, where we serve our famous German Fruehstueck (breakfast).
Our wrap around porch with white wicker rockers and our bird, Einstein (a blue and gold macaw) set the scene looking onto the roses, butterfly bush, and other flowers that mark the front and sides to the house. The back yard features a brick patio next to a fountain and fish pond under a 150 yr old magnolia.
The Gold room is the largest, decorated in gold and green, with a king size bed. Cupids and cherubs watch over the guests from every corner. A massive oak fireplace surround sets off the room, which also has a small sofa & table, writing desk, and a beautifully tiled shower and bath.
The Blue room is decorated in dark royal blue king size bed cover and luxurious drapes. Statuary and pictures, an old oak fireplace surround, and many other antiques set the room off from the ordinary. Extra large shower marks the private bath.
The Red room queen size bed has a regal red canopy and a chandelier marked by roses. The antique dressing table has a victorian pitcher and bowl set. The private bath features a lovely old mirror.
The Suite has a private living room with fireplace, two full beds, and a bath with shower and an antique cast iron tub.
We can help you arrange your weekend with restaurant recommendations and reservations, boat rides, directions to the beach and other activities in the area. In addition, if you want flowers in the room for that special anniversary, we can make those arrangements for you.
Smoking is permitted on the porch, but not inside.
While we love kids, we ask you to make arrangements, since it isn't fair to our other guest who left the kids with grandma. Besides, we don't have any space for roll-away beds.
Maps are available on the web site. Just drive into Apalachicola on Hwy 98. When you get to 6th St, turn at Gulf State bank, go one block, and you are looking at our sign. At night, our three palm trees are lit up and show up from Hwy 98.
