Who We Are:

Ssamba Foundation is a registered non-profit community development organization founded by Rotarian Isaac Ssamba in Mukono, Uganda. Operating in Mukono district, we manage a wide range of sustainable development and humanitarian projects since 2006.
Ssamba Foundation provides long-term sustainable solutions to problems in rural Uganda which are mainly caused by poverty.

Together with the communities we serve we have identified 5 key areas where change needs to have a positive impact if poverty is to become a challenge of the past. - Water | Education | Agriculture | Social-Economic | Health

The organization designs and conducts programs which contribute to the welfare and social productivity of disadvantaged individuals and communities with an emphasis on children, youth and women.

Ssamba Foundation addresses some of the most pervasive problems in rural Uganda, including poor healthcare systems, hunger, and poor education system, access to clean drinking water, environment degradation and extreme poverty.

In addition, the foundation focuses on empowering the youth of Uganda through leadership and skills training. The organization is founded on the principles that our common humanity is more important than our individual differences. We therefore operate on a non-political, non-denominational, and non-sectarian basis, welcoming each and every Ugandan in need.

Places to Visit

ssamba foundation's tour consultants have selected out the best places to visit in Uganda that are worth your money and time. Uganda is, for the most part, a safe and enthralling place. It's a land where hippos humph through the wetlands and lions laze in the acacias. It's a land of rain-stained forests and misty hills that house chimpanzees. It's got the lapping waters of Lake Victoria, and the winding channels of the Victoria Nile to boot. Vistas of rock-ribbed mountains and standalone volcanoes conquer the peripheries, shooting up to craggy summits where waterfalls and thunderstorms coalesce. Meanwhile, Kampala is a pulsating city, steeped in tribal ancestry and life. It's an all-round top African adventure

The dense, tangled jungle of Uganda's Bwindi Impenetrable Forest support some of the last remaining wild mountain gorillas on Earth. But there are other places to go in Uganda where you can see even more wildlife. You can follow pathways deep into Kibale Forest National Park to encounter chimpanzees, blue monkeys and grey-cheeked mangabeys in their natural habitat. Take a game drive through Queen Elizabeth National Park for a chance to see lion sleeping in fig trees and hippo wading in the Ishasha River. Or venture into Murchison Falls National Park and watch as the Nile surges through a narrow gorge, the force of the frothing water creating plumes of mist.
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Home to over half of the last 1000 mountain gorillas. Main activity in this mountain rain forest is the thrilling mountain gorilla trekking experience

Murchison Falls National Park

Here, the mighty Nile River bisects flourishing Savannah, flanked by lush riverine woodlands, before bursting through a chasm in the Rift Valley escarpment to form the raging Murchison Falls.

Kibale National Park

This rain forest is a top destination for chimpanzee tracking and habituation experience. Myriad primates and bird species found in this forest.

Queen Elizabeth National Park

Boasting one of the highest biodiversity ratings of any reserve in the world, home to almost a hundred animal species as well as more than 600 types of birds.

Lake Mburo National Park

The smallest of them all and easy access. Here you can take a guided walk or ride on horse through the park and have some great sightings.

Kidepo National Park

The rugged isolated wilderness of the Kidepo Valley National Park ranks as one of Africa's most prized, less explored destinations.

Mt Rwenzori National Park

Mountain Rwenzori commonly known as the ˝ Mountain of the moon˝ with snow on top of its peak which can be seen from the base.

Mgahinga National Park

An alternative destination to Bwindi for mountain gorilla trekking in Uganda, part of the Virunga Mountains, situated in the border area between Congo, Rwanda and Uganda.

Semliki National Park

Semliki National Park is one of Uganda's newest Parks having been gazetted in 1993 which host 194 sq. km of East Africa's only lowland tropical rainforest.

Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

The sanctuary is home to at least 22 Rhinos together with other mammals and reptilian species including monkeys, antelopes, hippopotamuses, crocodiles and numerous bird species.

We accept local and internationals volunteers who are full of enthusiasm, and who enjoy working with people from a different culture background. The minimum age to participate is 18. Candidates must speak English, in order to adapt themselves quickly and to be able to interact with local people.

We need people who possess the willingness to commit themselves to a long-term project, prepared for day-to-day challenges. Also important: our lifestyle is simple; we don't have any luxuries here, beside the luxury of being in the middle of a beautiful natural landscape, and working for a meaningful cause.

We accept local volunteers who can dedicate some hours every week to help us, but in this case they must arrange their own transport to the offices or project site in Mukono.

We need people to help teach at the rural schools, to help with construction and cleaning works, to help at our agriculture farm, social workers, psychologists, educators, specialists in IT, doctors, nurses, drivers, etc. In summary: anyone with goodwill and a good disposition to help and work can be accepted into the program.
