An unforgettable hiking week at Mount Pelion, the playground of the ancient Greek Gods and the spectacular Monasteries of Meteora. Participants should be in good physical condition with a bit of hiking experience. Trekking difficulty level: Moderate (Average treks between 4 and 6 hours duration in well maintained paths and safe terrain).

Day 1: Thessaloniki or Athens Int. Airport - Meteora On arrival at Thessaloniki or Athens Int. Airport you will be met by a member of our team. We will transfer you to Kastraki, a village situated among the spectacular rocks known as Meteora. We check into our guesthouse for the overnight stay. A dinner in a local tavern will follow. - Meals: Dinner. Overnight stay in Kastraki
Day 2: Meteora - Mountain Pelion Today we'll hike between the rocky pinnacles of the famous monasteries of Meteora, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The best way to explore the beauty of this unique area far from the madding crowd is on foot. So we'll walk on the same old trails which were used by the monks a few hundred years ago and come across the sanctuaries built on these sandstone rock pillars. After lunch we'll visit one of the six operating monasteries which are open to the public and continue our way having short breaks for photo shooting and enjoying the spectacular views of the monasteries and the gigantic rocky pinnacles. Then we'll drive to the picturesque village of Milies at Mt. Pelion. Hiking Time: 5 hours Difficulty Level: Easy Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner. Overnight stay in Milies
Day 3: Miles - Kala Nera - Milies Following an old stone path we make our way to the village of Kala Nera. Here we can swim and have lunch at a small fish restaurant before hiking back to Milies. Hiking Time: 5 hours Difficulty Level: Easy Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner. Overnight stay in Milies
Day 4: Milies -Tsagarada - Damouchari On today's hike we cross Mount Pelion from South West to North East. We start our walk from Milies village, walking on a forest road through chestnut trees and reach the village of Tsagarada. At the square we will admire the oldest plane tree in Europe, more than 1750 years old and then have our picnic beside a lovely white painted chapel on the hillside. After that, we will descend to Damouchari beach crossing of one of the most beautiful old stone paths. Hiking Time: 8 hours Difficulty Level: Moderate Meals: Breakfast, pick-nick lunch, dinner. Day 5 Damouchari - Fakistra - Damouchari Our destination on today's hike is the isolated beach of Fakistra with crystal clear blue water. Following the coastal path, having magnificent views of the Aegean Sea we'll enjoy this isolated beach for our pick nick lunch and for swimming. Late in the afternoon we will return along the same path back to Damouchari. Hiking time: Approx. 4 hours Difficulty: Easy Meals: Breakfast, pick-nick lunch, dinner. Overnight stay at Damouchari
Day 6 Damouchari - Agios Ioannis - Chania (Agriolefkes) We start from Damouchari, following the path along the shore to Agios Ioannis and the magnificent sandy beach Papa Nero. There is an opportunity to jump into the turquoise waters of Papa Nero before we drive to the settlement of Chania, the highest among the villages of the area (1.190 m). In the afternoon there is an optional walk to Agriolefkes with amazing views. Hiking time: approx. 45 min. Difficulty: Easy Optional walk: approx. 3,5 hours Difficulty: Easy / Moderate Meals: Breakfast, pick-nick lunch, dinner. Overnight stay in Chania.
Day 7 Chania - Portaria (Makrinitsa) Today we will follow the same path that was used according to the Greek Mythology by the Centaurs. These creatures were the followers of the wine god Dionysus and are well known for drunkenness and lustfulness. The path leads us to the village of Portaria. In the afternoon we'll continue to Makrinitsa, another picturesque village of the area with many old mansions, also known as the “Balcony of Mt. Pelionâ€, offering amazing views to the Pagasitic Gulf and the city of Volos. Hiking time: approx. 4 hours Difficulty: Easy Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner. Overnight stay in Portaria.
Day 8: Departure After breakfast, we transfer you to Thessaloniki or Athens International Airport for your return flight. - Meals: Breakfast.
