In the year 2015, Bhutan will be celebrating the 60th birth anniversary of our beloved Druk Gyalpo King Jigme Singye Wangchuk.
Each and every Dzongkhag's will be rejoicing the occasion and celebrating festivals. The celebration will last throughout the year.
Fourth king of Bhutan was the youngest to ascend the throne; he became the 4th monarch of the nation when he was just 17 years old. From that day till today fourth king have done and brought so much of changes in terms of infrastructures, education and health that he is commonly known as the “father of modern Bhutanâ€.
He indeed was the founder of GNH: he believed that the happiness and satisfaction of the people could never be achieved through GDP. GNH is supported by four pillars, they are (1) Equitable and equal socio-economic development (2) Preservation and promotion of cultural and spiritual heritage (3) Conservation of environment and (4) Good governance. Druk Gyalpo Jigme Singye Wangchuck said that the rich are not always happy while the happy generally considered themselves rich.
Also Eco tourism was one of the changes that Druk Gyalpo Jigme Singye Wangchuk bought in our country. “Eco-tourismâ€: literary means being friendly with nature. Tourism has always been a means of revenue generator for our country, it has brought advantages to our country but as said every advantage has its disadvantage. Eco-tourism helps people to be aware of not littering the environment, because there are chances that while going for hike n trekking and camping one might throw garbage. Eco-tourism is one of the most important aspects in tourism industry that everybody should be aware of and that one should try as far as possible to follow it. In the heap of earning, tourism industries should not forget that tourism creates cultural disturbances it creates haphazard situation in the environment so all the people related with tourism industries should be aware of what's known as the “ECO-TOURISMâ€. It's known to all that it was His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo who brought democracy to our nation. We all know that Bhutan is the youngest democratic country in the world. The first democratic election in Bhutan was held On December 31, 2007 and March 24, 2008. A constitution was also signed on July 16, 2008. The members who signed included designated representative of people as well as the fifth Druk Gyalpo Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuk. Although the country has moved from being a monarchy to democracy, the concept of democracy is still new to majority of the citizens.
