The Mariposa Bed and Breakfast is a charming family operated lodging located only 1.5 kilometers from the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve.
Established in 1995, our Costa Rican Family decided to open the Bed and Breakfast as a lodging spot near the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. Since then we have been characterized as offering a warm, family-friendly environment to all of our guests.
Secluded near the reserve, all of our rooms have windows overlooking beautiful gardens or the cloud forest. All rooms have private bathrooms with hot showers and a balcony or terrace. Rooms can accommodate 2 to 4 people. And we also have a two-bedroom apartment that is equipped with a kitchen area and has room for 2 to 5 guests.
We offer a full breakfast every morning, Wi-Fi internet access, information desk, free parking and a lounge with cable television.

From San José, drive on the Inter-American highway #1 via Alajuela, San Ramon and Puntarenas. One kilometer after passing the Restaurant Cuenca and Rio Aranjuez turn right at Kilometer 133 towards Sardinal. In Sardinal take a left after the soccer field and continue on the road towards the village of Guacimal, then to the town of Santa Elena (The road from Guacimal to Santa Elena is not paved and a 4X4 vehicle is recommended). From Santa Elena follow the signs towards the Monteverde Cloud forest Reserve. We are located at about 1 kilometer past the Monteverde Cheese Factory on the left hand side of the road.
