Five Flags Hostel

Our quiet and peaceful hostel is located in the very heart of Uzhgorod - the pedestrian area adjacent to the central Theater Square. The Uzhgorod castle, the cozy cafes serving the famous Uzhgorod coffee, the beautiful old churches - it is all here, within minutes of walking distance.

The hostel consists of one 10-bed dorm, one private room with a double bed, a common room, a bathroom, a toilet and a fully equipped kitchen. In the kitchen, you'll find a fridge, a microwave oven, a gas stove, an electric teapot, and a coffee machine, not to mention a full set of pans, plates, cups, cutlery and utensils. We also have fire equipment and a First Aid kit.

We are located in a gorgeous Czech-built building with high ceilings, so the rooms are bright and spacious. There's air conditioning in the dorm and in the private room. There is also a desktop computer with unlimited Internet access in the common room.

The Five Flags staff are fluent in Ukrainian, Russian and English. Hostel cleaning takes place daily.

Directions

Taxi is by far the easiest way to get around in Uzhgorod. A typical fare doesn't exceed UAH 20 ($2.50 USD, €1.70). We recommend City Taxi, tel. +38 050 584-9244.

When in a taxicab, ask the driver for "Edel'veys na Voloshyna" ("Edel'veys" shopping mall on Voloshyna St.) Once there, walk about 50 meters down Voloshyna St. in the pedestrian zone. Look for building No. 19 to your right and a metal gate with the "19" house number sign above it. Enter the gate, take one flight of stairs up and turn left. You'll see the hostel door, #3, right in front of you.

If you don't want to take a taxi, here are the alternatives:

AIRPORT: Walk out of the airport to Sobranetska St. Turn right and walk about 250 meters down Sobranetska St. until you see a bus stop near the crossing with Griboedova St. Take bus No. 6 and get off at the final stop which will be Koryatovycha St. Take Korzo St. into the pedestrian zone and then turn left to Voloshyna St. Walk about 120 meters up until you see building No. 19 to your left. Enter the gate with the "19" house number sign above it, take one flight of stairs up and turn left. The hostel door (#3) will be right in front of you.

TRAIN STATION: You can get to the hostel by foot, which will take you about 20 minutes. Walk out of the train station to Stantsiyna St. and cross it to get to Svobody Ave. Walk about 650 meters down Svobody Ave. until you hit the crossing with Shvabska St. Turn right and walk about 700 meters down Shvabska St. until you end up on Petefi Square. From Petefi Sq., take the pedestrian bridge across the Uzh river, walk straight across Teatral'na Sq. and the arcade between buildings to Voloshyna St. Building No. 19 will be about 15 meters to your right. Enter the gate with the "19" house number sign above it, take one flight of stairs up and turn left. You'll see the hostel door, #3, right in front of you.

To get to the hostel by bus, walk out of the train station to Stantsiyna St. and cross it to get to Svobody Ave. Walk about 250 meters down Svobody Ave. until you hit a bus stop to your right, right across the street from the intercity bus station. Take bus No. 5 or No. 9 downtown and get off at the final stop which will be Koryatovycha St. Take Korzo St. into the pedestrian zone and then turn left to Voloshyna St. Walk about 120 meters up until you see building No. 19 to your left. Enter the gate with the "19" house number sign above it, take one flight of stairs up and turn left. The hostel door (#3) will be right in front of you.

INTERCITY BUS STATION: The bus station is very close to the train station. To get to the hostel by foot, walk out of the bus station to Svobody Ave. and turn left. Walk about 450 meters down Svobody Ave. until you hit the crossing with Shvabska St. Turn right and walk about 700 meters down Shvabska St. until you end up on Petefi Square. From Petefi Sq., take the pedestrian bridge across the Uzh river, walk straight across Teatral'na Sq. and the arcade between buildings to Voloshyna St. Building No. 19 will be about 15 meters to your right. BY CAR: You can park the car in the downtown on Koryatovycha St. and then walk about 200 meters up Voloshyna St. in the pedestrian zone until you see building No. 19 to your left. Alternatively, you can park your car on Voloshyna St. close to the "Edel'veys" shopping mall and then walk about 50 meters down the pedestrian-only segment of Voloshyna St. until you get to building No. 19 to your right. Enter the gate with the "19" house number sign above it, take one flight of stairs up and turn left. You'll see the hostel door, #3, right in front of you.
