The Youth Hostel Possenhofen is located on the western shore of Lake Starnberg, just south of the town of Starnberg. The lake can be reached from the Youth Hostel through a public park that was once part of the grounds of Possenhofen Palace, the summer residence of Empress Elisabeth of Austria and Hungary.

Attention:
For staying in a youth hostel a membership card of a youth hostel association of the International Youth Hostel Federation (IYHF) is required.
Surcharge for travellers without Hostelling International Membership is 3.10 Euro per night.
German customers need a membership card for € 12,50 up to 27 years or a membership card for € 21,00 above 27 years.
Membership of Persons
The membership card can be obtained by all persons with a permanent residence in the Federal Republic of Germany at all DJH membership card issuing offices (also at Youth Hostels and business sites of the DJH Regional Associations).
Individual guests up to 26 years of age are given the Junior Card. Individual guests above the age of 26 and families receive the Family/27 Plus membership card (FAM/27 Plus). Unmarried couples will be treated on a par with married couples if they share the same place of residence. Each family member can be issued his/her own membership card. Children at full age require their own membership.
Family membership cards (FAM/27 Plus) entitle cardholders of full age to bring their own or friends' minor children.
Foreign guests who are not members of an affiliated IYHF organization can obtain the "Interna-tional Guest Card" (Welcome Stamps) in the Youth Hostel.
By car/coach
Leave München and join the A95 in direction Garmisch-Partenkirchen, at Starnberg change from A95 onto the A952 in direction Starnberg, in Starnberg leave A952 at junction Percha and join Münchner Straße (B2), go on for about 3 km, turn left into Dinardstraße, head straightforward onto Ferdinand-Von-Miller-Straße (2 km), go on until Kurt-Stieler-Straße.
By train
Next main trainstation ist Munich's Central Station (Hauptbahnhof).
Take the S 6 from Munich's Central Station to Tutzing, until 'Possenhofen Bahnhof'. Follow the sign 'Jugendherberge', it is a 10 minutes walk.
