Seabird Key is a ten-acre paradise with a stunning home, exquisite grounds, sandy beach, jungle trails, a very cool outdoor kitchen and much, much more! There could never be a dull moment spent on this Island unless you're looking to do nothing but relax. The 19' Whaler is provided for transportation to and from the mainland and can be taken out for fishing, going to the reef, towing the tube for the kids or just motoring out for a sunset cruise. Swim in the ocean, sail on the 14' Hobie cat, kayak around the Island, or do whatever activity suits you. Hunt for hermit crabs. Go bird watching. Grill the catch of the day and top it off with a slice of key lime pie. Seabird's home is architecturally stunning with vaulted ceilings and heavy beams. Built of tanked cypress excavated from the Swanee River, this is no ordinary house. This home is perfect for Island living with natural cooling from the louvered windows with screens and french doors throughout.

The amenities are abundant on Seabird Key! Imagine...you're on a private island and you have a flat screen TV with any channel you could want, fabulous speakers, surround sound, and WI-Fi. The WI-Fi extends outdoors as well. On your own Island, you're in complete control of everything...especially the music! The stereo is awesome with indoor/outdoor speakers located even on the beach and around the outdoor kitchen area. The two kitchens are both fully equipped for making gourmet meals on the Island, but there is no dishwasher on the Island...sorry! There is a washer/dryer for sure! A couple of creature comforts must be compromised including no bath tub and no a/c. Despite lack of a/c, Seabird is rated a 5-star luxury property. When you have such beautiful surroundings offshore, combined with hundreds of amenities we can't even mention, you'll realize that this is a 100% first class property.
The home comfortably sleeps 8 with 3 bedrooms and 3 baths. The Master Bedroom is located on the main floor and has a Queen size bed with a bath and private balcony. The Second Bedroom is also located on the main level and has a Full Size bed and bath. The two bedrooms share an outdoor shower on a balcony between the two bedrooms. The third bedroom is upstairs in the open loft area. There are two sets of bunk beds (sleeps 4) and a bath with shower.
Arrival Instructions: Secure parking is provided at our mainland base in Marathon (GPS: 11010 First Avenue Gulf, Marathon, FL 33050) located directly behind the Beall's Outlet @ MM 54 where you'll be greeted on Saturday at 4PM, by Seabird's Manager, Jeff Davis. Board our 19' Boston Whaler and enjoy the 5 minute boat ride out to the Island. Your adventure begins with a quick tour of Seabird and an introduction to all the systems on the Island. Please telephone Jeff prior to your arrival to confirm your schedule. If you experience any unexpected delays, please advise Jeff or your check-in may be delayed until the next morning. Jeff can be reached:
Is there a grocery store nearby? √There are two grocery stores within a 5 minute drive of our mainland base; Winn- Dixie and Publix. You can request that your provisions be stocked upon arrival: There is an extra charge for this service and you will be asked to provide a grocery list. The service fee is $20 per hour + cost of goods. Payment for this service is collected directly by the shopper in the form of personal check or cash.
Do I go to the grocery store before I check into Seabird? √ It depends upon the size of your group. If you have a large group with luggage, the 19' boat can't accommodate all of you, your luggage, and your groceries in one trip out to Seabird. Groceries don't need to sit around in the South Florida heat more than necessary. However, if you don't have that much gear, or the weather is cool, then hit the grocery store before you get to Seabird. Once you arrive, you'll be really glad to have the shopping behind you and you save a trip back into the mainland.
Ice/Cooler? √ No need to purchase ice. On Seabird's mainland property, we have a commercial ice machine provided for your convenience. Coolers are available next to the machine to transport your ice over to the mainland. Once you arrive on Seabird, there are coolers provided for drinks, and of course, a refrigerator with a small freezer for your cold foods.
Where should I send my package? √ If you plan to mail a package ahead of your arrival, or receive a package during your stay…here's the best address. As you know, there is no mail delivery to offshore Islands…so, send your package to Jeff's home address and he will deliver it to you on the Island. Your Name C/O Jeff Davis, 257 Cocoanut Avenue, Marathon, FL 33050.
Do I Tip Jeff? That's entirely up to you…. While not required, it sure makes him feel great to know he's appreciated.
Exit Airport (GREEN EXIT # 4) going SOUTH towards Le June Road.
Be alert: A few short blocks on the right exit onto:
Hwy 836 WEST and continue until you see signs for the Florida Turnpike.
Exit onto the Florida Turnpike heading SOUTH. Go to the end.
The Turnpike terminates in Florida City and you will be on US1 heading SOUTH, leading into the Florida Keys. Notice the mile markers on your way down. Marathon begins around mm54, and Seabird Key is closest to mm53.
After crossing the Vaca Cut Bridge you're in Marathon. Begin looking for the Beall's Outlet Shopping Plaza on the right. At the traffic light in front of Beall's Outlet, turn RIGHT onto 109th Street (Walgreen's will be on your left). Go 1 block to 1st Avenue Gulf and turn RIGHT. Seabird's mainland base is just a few yards on the LEFT (11010 1st Avenue Gulf). Jeff will be waiting to greet you and assist with your luggage out to the Island.
Jeff can best be reached on his mobile phone, or weekdays after 6PM at his home #. On Saturdays, after 10AM, he can be reached on the Island phone, but his mobile is usually the best number. Have a Safe Trip!
