You will find that we have NO BUNK BEDS, making it a very comfy, familiar and friendly environment.
All rooms are air conditioned in the summer and heated in the winter, we provide our clients with big lockers equipped with lock and key for their valuables. You will find a free WI-FI hotspot in the common room as well as free usage of our computers in the lobby.
All the bed linens are provided for free of charge, along with a bath towel. Comfortable couches in the lobby with a LCD wide screen TV for those who want a kick back and relax allowing our clients to meet an eclectic selection of people from all over the world.
The only rules we have are: to leave empty the hostel from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. so we can clean the hostel; we also ask to not make any noise after 11 p.m. so we can let our guests rest. Since we hold the security of your belongings in high regard, we provide you with big lockers, a lock and a key and would appreciate it if you do not lose the keys, if not we are forced to fine you ( 5 euros ).
ROOMS
Cheap accommodation in Florence shouldn't compromise on comfort. The city is a busy and hectic place so it's important for us at Academy Hostels to do as much as possible to ensure our guests can get a comfortable night sleep. You will find the Academy Hostels amazingly quiet for being located in the center of Florence but at the same time, for the ones who want to enjoy Florence nightlife, you will find restaurants, bars, clubs and the best spots in town within a few minutes walking distance. We encourage our clients who are looking for a good time to wonder the streets with your new found friends and not make the hostel a bar, if we wanted a bar in the hostel we would have put one up
Cancellation: Cancellations must be notified directly to the accommodation provider at least 72 hours prior to arrival; unless otherwise stated above. If a cancellation is requested, your card will be charged for the first nights accomodation. In the event of a NO SHOW, your card will be charged for the first nights accommodation total.
*** According to the City Council resolution n. 230/33 of 06/20/2011, from July 1st the City of Florence will introduce the tourism tax, applied to non-residents overnight staying, for a maximum of 10 consecutive nights.
The tourism tax rate is Euro 1,00 per person per night, and it is not applied to:
- children (up to 10 years old);
- people, who provide assistance to patients in hospital, max one each patient people/family, who provide assistance to underage patients in hospital, max two each patient
Payment: The outstanding amount is payable to the property directly upon your arrival.
Credit cards are accepted but only over 150.00 € of accommodation costs.
Modifications to booking:
For any changes to an existing reservation, please contact the accommodation provider directly. Modifications to the booking will not be allowed upon arrival unless it enters the 72 hour period. If any changes will be made there will be a fine , the cost of a days accommodation.
MINIMUM 2 NIGHTS POLICY : Please be informed that the hostel has a minimum two nights policy. Cancelations on the first night will not be allowed as a modification to your booking.
Expiration of credit card : Should your credit card expire or your credit card details change prior to arrival, please contact the accommodation provider directly with the amended details.

Directions
BY PLANE
From Florence Airport, there are two possible ways to reach Hotel Dei Macchiaioli:
• Take a taxi at the exit of the airport. It takes approximately 15 minutes to reach the hotel;
• You can take the shuttle bus 'Vola in Bus', which will take you to Santa Maria Novella station in around 20 minutes. From here, follow the directions under 'By train'.
BY TRAIN
From Santa Maria Novella Station (Florence main railway station) you can:
• Take a taxi (a 5 minute drive);
• Take bus number 1-14-17-23 get off Piazza San Marco and walk down Via Cavour towards the Cathedral/Duomo, until you reach number 21;
• From Santa Maria Novella train station, If you're not carrying heavy bags, you can walk to the hotel. Just a 10 minutes walk away. Leave the station by the east-side exit by track n° 16 ( near the farmacy) , take the underground passage to the right and go straight until the end. At the exit, keep going straight ahead until you reach the Cathedral/Duomo. Turn left into Via Martelli which becomes Via Cavour, after 50 metres. The hotel is at number 21.
BY CAR
If you are arriving to Florence by your private car, you may use the parking garage in collaboration with our hotel.
• From the South: From Highway A1, get off at the Firenze Sud exit and follow the directions for the center. When you reach the traffic light at the end of Lungarno del Tempio, you must go right; drive towards Piazza Beccaria and then Viale Antonio Gramsci and Viale Giacomo Matteotti towards Piazza della Libertà . When you arrive here drive around the square and turn into Via Cavour, which is the last street intersection on the right. Follow the street straight along and after passing Piazza San Marco continue on Via Cavour. You'll see Hotel Dei Macchiaioli on the right at number 21.
• From the North: Take the Firenze Nord exit and follow the directions for the center. Travel along Viale Guidoni, turn to the right into Viale Enrico Forlanini. Continue over Via Di Novoli and Viale Francesco Redi and once you arrive at the end of the street go right and then left to take Via Guido Monaco.
Drive to the end of this street and then turn left on Viale Fratelli Rosselli. After the railway underpass, follow the Viali di Circonvallazione running along Fortezza da Basso. Then, take Viale Lavagnini and continue towards Piazza della Libertà . Take the second right into Via Cavour. Follow straight along Via Cavour and after passing Piazza San Marco continue on Via Cavour. You'll see Hotel Dei Macchiaioli on the right at number 21.
You could park in a garage very close to us. The cost is 24,00 euro per day.
