This hotel is named after its most illustrious owner Cardinal Giuliano Della Rovere, who later became Pope Giulio II, patron of artists of the caliber of Michelangelo and Raffaello . The building is the result of the careful restoration of an 11th century Benedictine Abbey and of the renaissance Villa commissioned by Giuliano Della Rovere in 1470 .
