The resort is situated along and above a secluded bay in the prestigious area of the island called Oyster Pond . Dawn Beach is located just across the bay from Captain Oliver's Resort . Due to the offshore reefs, on calm days it's great for snorkeling and on windy days there is a nice surf break that is fun for body surfing . Also there is a sandy area in front of the hotel along the seaside boardwalk with some tikis and hammocks that is private for hotel guests .
Captain Oliver's Resort is a great place to relax, listen to the waves lapping along the shore, watch the pelicans and seagulls diving and the yachts coming in and out of the bay . Plus there is plenty of activity along the marina with three restaurants and four bars where a variety of entertainment is featured most nights . Sailing charters to nearby uninhabited islands and ferry service to the neighboring island of St . Barths depart directly from Captain Oliver's Marina .
