Experience life in the early 1800's but enjoy modern comforts! Sleep on feather mattresses and air dryed sheets under hand sewn quilts. The house has 5 fireplaces, two three season porches,wide pine floorboards and original wavy glass windows of the early 19th century when it was built. The Nichols house is situated on three house lots with ample grass, trees and plantings to enjoy from the chaise lounges, picnic table, or benches in the yard. The location is ideal for day trips to Boston, Plymouth, Martha's Vinyard, Nantucket, Block Island, Providence, Cape Cod, and Connecticut. Maps and brochures are provided on site for your use. One can enjoy active sight seeing, or relax and nestle in with one of our books which are yours for the keeping. Enjoy the charm and comfort provided by the lodging and daily country fresh breakfasts. It is our intention to continue to provide a place as cozy, accomodating and friendly as it always has been when mom Nichols was welcoming all who came for a visit. Join us for a night, week, or several weeks. Return for the change of seasons which are dramatic in New England.
The 'Eleanor' room has a king size bed, private bath with hairdryer, fireplace, and wide pine floorboards. It has an overhead fan/linght, is air conditioned and has a feather mattress, air dryed sheets and hand sewn quilt. A radio/alarm clock, telephone and TV with a VCR/DVD and selection of tapes/discs are for your in room enjoyment. The room is airy, with 3 of the original windows from the early 19th century which look out upon the ever changing New England foliage!
The 'Muriel' room has a fireplace and beautiful queen-sized hand polished antique solid brass bed and private bath. It is equipped with air conditioning, overhead fan, radio/alarm clock and phone in the room. There are two windows looking into the back and side yards with views of the maple trees. The room is charming with wide pine floorboards, and is comfortable and quiet. This room also has a tv/ vcr and hair dryer.
The 'Cameron' room has a double mates bed with a feather mattress and lots of drawers beneath. The sheets are air dryed, and the quilts are hand sewn. It has a large closet and comes with two thick and thirsty terrycloth robes for use by the guests. The full bath including a tub with bathsalts is shared. Full country fresh breakfast, or heart healthy. Juice, fruit, coffee, tea, milk, and/or cocoa precede a main course from our extensive menus. Cold and hot cereals are always available. Dietary restrictions are accomodated. Linens, dishes, candles and centerpieces change daily, creating a different ambience to the antique fireplaced dining room. Whenever possible the host(s) join the guests for friendly conversation at mealtime.
