The Green Parrot Beach Houses and Resort is located in southern Belize on the Placencia peninsula at Maya Beach. The resort is about midway down the peninsula. Most guests arrive by air at the Placencia air strip via Maya or Tropic airlines. Some will come by car, which is about a 3 hour drive on dirt roads from Belize City. note: as of August 2009 - the road is being paved! We are paved from the resort to Placencia. This will make travel much easier. The resort is an ideal location to act as the center for ones vacation plans. Located on the Caribbean, the resort provides immediate access to all water related activities (fishing, snorkeling, scuba diving, and boating), as well as tours of Mayan ruins, the Monkey River, and the Jaguar Preserve.
The Green Parrot Beach Houses has 6 standard bungalows and 2 deluxe "honeymoon" cabanas. Each of the six standard bungalows offers loft-sleeping accommodations with ceiling fan, main floor has a sofa bed, kitchenette, and bath. These can accommodate 4 persons (2 adults and 2 children). The two delux cabanas are thached roofed and will sleep two, surrounded by heavy landscaping intended for seclusion for honeymoons and anniversary getaways.

If you are looking for a "Cancun type experience", then you would not want to visit Placencia. Placencia looks much like it did 100 years ago. It is a small fishing community that is very relaxed. There is only one narrow road down the peninsula from Maya Beach to the 'town" of Placencia. Most of our guests live by the sun - when the sun gets up they do, and when it goes down they retire for the night. Dont worry about the bright lights of the resorts blocking out the star light, you can sit on the beach at night and marvel at the wonders of the constellations.
Best and fastest is to fly to the Placencia airport, where reserved guests are met by the resort staff and transported about 20 minutes north to the Green Parrot. If you drive from Belize City plan on about a 3 hour drive, much of which is on dirt roads. Jeep-type rentals are available, but tend to be expensive. Note that there are vehicle rentals now in Placencia if you want to rent a car locally.
