Wallace, featuring organic gardens, a native prairie with wildflowers, and shops offering Iowa specialties; the Howell Dried Flower Farm, with 26 acres planted in flowers and a huge "drying barn" to explore; the Iowa Aviation Museum, home of several one-of-a-kind antique aircraft; a large, country zoo, with a pioneer-era log cabin; an in-progress-of-being-restored 19th century Opera House; a lovely, century-old, restored country church, now available for weddings; great antique shops, tea rooms, and perennial gardens; excellent fishing and challenging golf, not to mention breathtaking sunsets, and fantastic stargazing!
This unusual getaway features a 4100 sq. ft. separate guest house complete with a 40-foot heated indoor pool, surrounded on three sides by 15-foot tall windows overlooking the countryside. Sliding glass doors from each room open onto a large, well-appointed indoor deck, which overlooks the pool and provides a dining and entertainment area with comfortable wicker furniture, color TV, VCR, and stereo CD player. An adjoining, fully furnished kitchen includes a beverage-stocked refrigerator and filled cookie jar. Next door, the 1918 antique-filled farm home provides a pleasant library for browsing, a large and comfortable gathering room and an elegant dining room, where guests are served 5-course breakfasts, featuring house specialities, including freshly ground and brewed Green Mountain coffee.
Each spacious, well-lit, air-conditioned guest room is tastefully furnished with your comfort in mind, and includes a queen bed with luxury linens, sitting area with sofa and easy chairs, telephone, TV, VCR and stereo, and a private bath with luxury toiletries and linens. Queen sleeper sofas provide additonal sleeping accommodations in each room. The Garden Room offers a brass bed; the Desert Room a four-poster. The Gallery Room--a small room with twin beds (no bath)--is available to be rented with one of the larger rooms, if additional sleeping space is desired. An enclosed patio provides good sunbathing and a gas grill for guest use, as well.

Guests are welcome to dine at the country club with advance reservations. Video library and collection of board and card games on-site. Bench seat in shallow end of pool provides the perfect spot for enjoying iced tea, a cold beer, or your favorite margarita recipe!
Rate includes 5-course breakfast, served daily in formal dining room of 1918 farmhome, located a few dozen steps from guest house on acreage; may be served pool-side, if desired. Honeymoon packages (first and second!), gift certificates, whole house rental and limousine service are available. Wedding services--to exchange or renew your vows--including complete wedding packages, can be arranged through our affiliation with "Historic Weddings at Penn Avenue Church".
Nonsmoking rooms available; smoking allowed in restricted areas. No pets allowed in rooms or poolside. State swimming pool rules restrict children to age 4 and over. Handicapped accessible.
From Interstate 80, take Exit 86 (Highway 25) south 12 miles to Highway 92. Turn east (left) onto Highway 92 and drive 1.5 miles. The Brass Lantern entrance will be on your right (on the south side of Hwy 92). Follow drive all the way to the end; park in area provided near guesthouse.
