Typical Day
Depending on type of tour, a typical day usually includes one or more of the following: short (or long) hike through one or more reserves and protected areas where the visitor is exposed to concepts in biology, environmental science, or ecology through hands-on, interactive interpretation. This is not a lecture, but a chance to quiz an expert in tropical biology on the cultural and ecological impacts of human-nature interactions. Most often a cold lunch is provided on the trail. Usually visitors return to their hotel in the evening. On camping trips, visitors return to the campsite and a hot meal after exploring the local area.
Age range, type of group
There are no age or other restrictions. However, visitors should be advised that physical disability may preclude participation in a given tour or site. In addition, because of the nature of the tours, very young children may not be physically able to enjoy the tours.
Sleeping and meals
The type of accommodations available is strictly tour-dependent. Some packages include moderate to very nice accomodations, other packages are restricted to camping (equipment provided) because of either the probability of viewing wildlife or the lack of suitable infrastructure nearby.
