Kinlochleven is a West Highland village situated at the head of Loch Leven ( a sea loch) surrounded by mountains on all sides. Only 7 miles from historic Glencoe where the infamous massacre of the Macdonald Clan occurred in 1692. This is Scottish walking country at it's best, but only two hours from Glasgow international airport
The Macdonald Hotel was built in 1991 in a traditional West Highland style. The hotel is situated beside a tidal creek at the head of Loch Leven. A family business, we have 10 letting bedrooms, a restaurant, lounge bar area and large walker's bar. The walker's bar enjoys magnificent views down Loch Leven. There is also a small campsite beside the hotel which is used by backpacker's on the West Highland Way - a long distance trail from Glasgow to Fort William.
All rooms are ensuite with both bath and shower. There is colour TV, tea and coffee making facilities. All rooms are large enough to accommodate a child's bed alongside two adults.
The Macdonald Hotel enjoys a fine reputation for food, both in the restaurant and the bar. We use fresh local ingredients in all our dishes. Salmon, Venison, Prime Scottish beef and lamb will always be on offer.
