After an early breakfast, you’ll transfer to the Chagres Marina to board our boat for a 25 minute ride on the Panama Canal to the Barro Colorado National Monument, a rainforested island located in the middle of Gatun Lake. Powered by a noiseless motor, you’ll explore the inlets of Wheeler Cove. Look out for exotic tropical birds such as the chestnut mandibled toucan as well as howler and capuchin monkeys, American crocodiles, green iguanas and a myriad of colorful morpho butterflies. You’ll land at the research center on the island, and set off on a one mile hike into the forest with your naturalist guide. After the hike, you’ll be served a picnic lunch back at the research center.
